Programs for Adults(Divine Providence) |
The New Church of Concord offers several Religious and Spiritual Growth programs for its adult congregation members and friends. Many programs run on an ongoing basis, but there are also special featured programs that run for a limited time on a predefined schedule. Long time members and newcomers are all welcome to any of our classes and programs!
Saturday Class & Potluck Supper
Once a month we meet at the church for a doctrinal class by the Pastor followed by a potluck supper. People are welcome to come just for the class. You can also take a turn organizing the potluck afterwards. Class starts at 6:00pm and the supper usually begins at about 7:30pm. These classes touch on various topics such as the life after death, angels, the Lord, salvation, marriage, and more.
Friday Morning Class
Every Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:00am a group meets for a class with the Pastor. We discuss a variety of New Church teachings and stories from the Bible. We are currently reading through the book "Arcana Caelestia". This is one of Swedenborg's theological books which explains the spiritual meaning of the stories of Genesis and Exodus. This class does not meet during the summer months.
Book of Revelation
This class meets every other Wednesday at 7:30pm. This year we will be reading through the book of Revelation. If you would like be a part of an online discussion group for this class go to http://groups.google.com/group/book-of-revelation-class where you can post questions or comments and read responses. Young Adults
On the Wednesday evenings that the "Gospel of Mark" class doesn't meet, a group of young adults (ages 18 - 35) gets together to talk about various religious topics and New Church teachings. We meet in Boston at different venues and people's homes.
Pastoral Visits
Our Pastor, Matthew, is available to meet with people on a individual basis at the church, your home, in a coffee shop, or anywhere else you would like. He would be happy to talk to you privately about New Church teachings or to give you support in whatever way he can. It is helpful to let the pastor know of illness or any situation they should be aware of where a pastoral call or visit might be appreciated.
Special Programs
